I first came in contact with the word “ponder” in the Scriptures. “Mary pondered these things in her heart.” (Luke 2:19) The word caught my attention and found its way to my heart. And there it lay. I cannot tell you with certainty what it means, for I close my eyes and hold it quietly. Sometimes I wrestle with it; sometimes it wrestles with me.

But I do know that Pondering takes us on a journey – from head to heart. It is like contemplating, reflecting, ruminating, and speculating. It has a depth to it that leads to wonder – and beyond.
