Many misconceptions surround the roles and lives of Muslim women. Come learn about the traditional roles of women in the family, how women are addressed in the Qur’an, and some history about the woman’s position in society. There will also be discussion of the many different variations of Muslim women found around the world and the stereotypes surrounding them.

Aida Mansoor, M.A., is a community chaplain in the Greater Hartford Area and has been doing presentations on “Understanding Islam and Muslims” and “Women in Islam” since 1999. Committed to building bridges of understanding, Aida is President of the Muslim Coalition of Connecticut, a non-profit dedicated to this purpose, and a board member of the Connecticut Council for Interreligious Understanding. She was awarded the Human Relations Award from the National Conference for Community and Justice in 2011.
