Exploring Desert Wisdom: In the fourth and fifth centuries, hundreds of years after Christ’s birth, literally thousands of early Christians flocked to the desert to deepen their relationship with Christ. In this retreat, we will explore the power of the desert through psalms, Desert Father and Mother sayings and contemporary literature as well as Centering Prayer and lectio divina. It will be a time to quiet our minds and open our hearts to the desert’s wisdom relevant to our Lenten journeys.

Anne A. Simpkinson has been practicing Centering Prayer (CP) since 1996. A certified Introductory CP Workshop leader, she has led workshops and Quiet Days in New York City and Connecticut. While living in New York, she served as co-coordinator of Contemplative Outreach for three years and as a CP facilitator at St. Bartholomew's and St. Ignatius Loyola churches. She is co-facilitator of weekly online Centering Prayer circles and contemplative day-long and weekend retreats.
