Spiritual Companions

  • Wisdom House Retreat & Conference Center 229 East Litchfield Road Litchfield, CT, 06759 United States (map)

Presented by Lisa Hudkins

A Spiritual Companions Group is a Sacred Circle that consists of 5-8 people who meet once a month for 90 minutes, to share their spiritual journeys with one another.  This gentle and contemplative process involves taking a “long loving look” at one’s life in an atmosphere of confidentiality, trust, and openness.  Each week individuals take turns sharing matters of spiritual interest. Other group members listen attentively and respond in ways that encourage the presenter to explore the situation more deeply.  It is a very respectful process, without advice giving or attempts to "fix" the presenter.  Over time a strong sense of community develops among group members.

Diversity is valued: people of any spiritual tradition, or no tradition, are welcome to participate.  Participants will be given a handout that provides guidance on how we can best companion one another, and no prior experience is necessary.  The group will be led by Lisa Hudkins, who is an experienced spiritual director.

The Group will meet on the second Tuesday of the month beginning October 8 and ending April 8.

Seven Tuesdays • 10:00AM-11:30AM

COST | $140 FOR 7 WEEKS

Lisa Hudkins has discovered that the ability to listen deeply and to be present to those she companions fills her with great joy.  She has found the practice of daily contemplation is an important part of her life. Whether reading inspirational books, poems, creating mandalas, taking contemplative walks in nature, or working in her journal she realizes the importance of spending time in silence to hear the Holy Spirit within her. It is during these times that she finds herself giving thanks for the beauty of creation which she encounters all around her. She enjoys working in her gardens and in spending time with her boxer Gracie. Lisa and her husband Paul enjoy traveling, and working around their yard and home. They have two adult children who live in Wyoming and Michigan.
